Majority of company websites in Zimbabwe are using WordPress, and most of them shouldn’t be. buildwith.com says more than 8000. I believe this number can be doubled.
There is nothing wrong with WordPress when it provides all the plugins you need but, when someone visits your site and it takes more than 10 seconds to load, it will cost you more.
By the time your website loads, the user has already opened another tab or is doom-scrolling on their phone. A website user’s attention span lies somewhere around eight seconds.
This is the reality these days. Also factor in that the majority of people can only access the internet at work or using our slow local mobile data speeds.
If your website is just a static site and you need fast loading speeds, and you care less about the massive plugin market WordPress offers, you should consider Astro.js
If you are not sure how to build with Astro, I am working on an article that should help you build one in no time, but in the mean time get in touch and I will be happy to spin up one for you.
P.S.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk, God bless.
